Overview

Developer subscriptions are completely optional. They let you subscribe to your own MCP server so you can use and test it the same way subscribers do.

This is useful for:

  • Testing - Experience your server as subscribers do
  • Dogfooding - Use your own server in production
  • Personal use - Access your server for your own projects

MCP Servers Without Monetization

If your MCP server does not have monetization enabled, subscribing is free. You get full access with no charges, same as any other subscriber.

This is the default state for new MCP servers. Most developers start here.

MCP Servers With Monetization Enabled

If you have enabled monetization on your MCP server, subscribing to your own MCP server works the same way as subscribing to any other MCP server:

  • You pay your own subscriber price per 1,000 requests
  • Billing is metered — you only pay for what you use
  • Your card is charged at the end of each billing cycle

There is no developer discount on monetized MCP servers. Since you set the price and keep 100% of what subscribers pay, subscribing at the full rate means the charges you pay go back to you as revenue.

How to Subscribe

Developer subscriptions are available from your server detail page:

  1. Go to app.mctx.ai/dev/servers
  2. Click on your server
  3. Find the Subscribe to Your Server card
  4. Review the pricing details
  5. Click Subscribe Now
  6. Complete the checkout

That's it — you now have access to your server as a subscriber.

When You Might Want This

Testing and Quality Assurance

Subscribe to verify your server works correctly:

  • Test authentication flow end-to-end
  • Verify MCP protocol implementation
  • Check tool execution and responses
  • Monitor real-world performance

Dogfooding

Use your own server in production:

  • Experience exactly what subscribers experience
  • Find issues before subscribers do
  • Build confidence in your server's reliability

Personal Use

Access your server for your own work:

  • Use your tools in your development workflow
  • Integrate with your own AI applications
  • Build on your own infrastructure

When You Don't Need This

You don't need a developer subscription if you:

  • Only want to deploy and manage your server
  • Test using local development or staging environments
  • Don't personally use MCP servers

Deployment does not require a developer subscription. Your server can deploy and accept subscribers without you subscribing to it.

Managing Your Developer Subscription

View and manage your developer subscription from:

Canceling

You can cancel your developer subscription anytime:

  1. Go to app.mctx.ai/subscriptions
  2. Find your developer subscription
  3. Click Cancel Subscription

Note: Canceling your developer subscription does not affect your server or other subscribers. Your server remains active and other subscribers keep access.

Billing

Developer subscriptions use the same metered billing as regular subscriptions:

  1. Subscribe - Enter payment details via checkout
  2. Use - Make requests to your MCP server throughout the month
  3. Bill - At the end of each billing cycle, usage is calculated
  4. Pay - Your card is charged for the total usage

View your usage anytime in the dashboard.

Locked-In Pricing

If your MCP server has monetization enabled, your developer subscription locks in the rate at the time you subscribe. If you raise the subscriber price later, your rate doesn't change while subscribed. If you cancel and resubscribe, you pay the current price. See How Pricing Works for the full explanation.
